Hey seniors (and parents)! 👋 Let’s talk about when to schedule your senior photo session. Timing is everything: Your Month-to-Month guide to booking senior photos in Missouri. Timing can make a huge difference in your final gallery, so here’s my month-by-month breakdown:

Summer Sessions (June/July)

• No school schedule conflicts – yay for flexibility!
• Gorgeous wildflower fields in bloom
• Natural sun-kissed summer glow
• Later evening sessions (golden hour starts 7:00-7:30pm)
• Just keep in mind: It can get HOT and sweaty
• Plenty of time before yearbook deadlines

August

• Wildflower fields still looking amazing
• Late enough sessions to get ready after school
• Natural summer glow in your photos
• Super lush, green backgrounds everywhere
• Golden hour starts around 6:30-7:00pm
• Still ahead of those yearbook deadlines

September (MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!)

• PRIME photo season in Missouri!
• Still can find wildflowers
• Versatile for both summer AND fall vibes depending on your outfit choices
• Usually cooler, more comfortable temps
• Golden hour starts around 6:00-6:30pm
• Zero stress about yearbook or graduation card deadlines

October

• Peak fall colors typically hit mid-to-late month
• Most vibrant, colorful backdrops of the year
• Golden hour starts earlier (4:30-5:00pm)
• Just a heads-up: Can be cold, rainy or cloudy
• Still plenty of time for yearbook submissions

November

• Beautiful neutral, brown tones early in the month
• Golden hour timing changes:
  • Before daylight savings: 4:30-5:00pm
  • After daylight savings: 3:30-4:00pm
• Still ahead of most school deadlines

Winter (December/January/February)

• Opportunity for gorgeous snow sessions
• Perfect for downtown/urban settings
• Golden hour starts around 3:30-4:00pm
• Bundle up – it’s definitely cold!

Spring (March/April)

• Flowers start blooming late March into April
• Perfect timing for cap and gown photos!
• Golden hour between 6:00-7:00pm
• BUT: Weather can be super unpredictable
• Important deadline note: This is when you need to think about yearbook and graduation card timing. My normal turnaround is 2-3 weeks, but I prioritize spring seniors knowing you need these photos faster. Not all photographers do this, so plan accordingly!
